NDAHPERD Meeting Highlights
Winter IVM Meeting-II
February 22, 2010
16 board members were present.
Old Business
v Terbizan reported that there were 300 attendees at the Central District Convention held in Fargo on February 4-6. The evaluations were very positive.
v Heuer will be getting a connection key from Human Kinetics so that she will be able to up-load to the NDAHPERD web site. If any NDAHPERD members experience problems using the web site or have suggestions for it, they are to contact her as well.
v A task force was formed to review previous work done and to draft a policy in regard to registration fee requirements or stipends for fall workshop or state convention presenters. Krug, Bender, Krantz, Doppler and Lee volunteered for this effort. They will report at the next meeting
v All future membership registration will be on-line. Hutchison will be retained until 6-1-11 as the membership chair. A re-evaluation will take place at that time as to how well this feature functions for the association.
New Business
v The NDAHPERD State Conference is tentatively set to be held at the University of Mary on Wednesday, October 20 beginning at 8 a.m. The awards banquet would be held that evening starting at 6:30 and the conference would continue the following morning with post-conference sessions rather than a pre-session this time. Proposals for presentations are being called for and all state members are encouraged to submit one.
v Discussion on the structure of the executive board was tabled until the April
meeting.
v Brad Strand is running for President-Elect of AAHPERD. Discussion was
held on how that might affect his role as Executive Director.
v The board moved to provide the CD Middle School Teacher of the Year, Lisa
Sinjem, with $500 to help defray her expenses to the national AAHPERD
convention, where she will compete for the national TOY award.
v Krug will be doing some background work on how NDEA uses a portion of its membership dues to help fund the student part of the organization. A suggestion was made by a NDAHPERD student member that this might an option the board should consider.
v The next meeting will be held at St. Mary’s Elementary in Bismarck on April 18, 2010, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
